Drama erupted on Louisville’s streets this New Year’s Eve, ending in tragedy right outside a bustling McDonald’s downtown.
Authorities say Shoshanha Jones, now behind bars, is accused of gunning down Mayra Rodriguez Munoz in what police describe as a fit of rage sparked by a simple car door mishap. The fateful encounter took place on December 31st around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of North Preston and South Jackson, close to the trendy NuLu district.
The chaos unfolded when a child, climbing out of a car, accidentally swung the door into Jones’ vehicle, and tempers flared instantly. According to investigators, Jones unleashed a torrent of angry words at the child. The child hurried back into the car, but the drama didn’t stop there—Rodriguez Munoz, the child’s mother, tried to step between Jones and her kid, hoping to defuse the showdown.
Things took a lethal turn when Jones grabbed a pistol. As Rodriguez Munoz exited her car to intervene, police say Jones fired a shot straight to her chest, killing her instantly. The terrifying encounter didn’t end there: another woman, attempting to capture the scene on her phone, allegedly had the device snatched from her as Jones aimed the weapon her way and made off into the night.

Emergency crews arrived fast, but tragically, Rodriguez Munoz could not be saved. Cops began their hunt, quickly zeroing in on Jones after finding her ID lying near empty bullet casings at the scene. Records show Jones is a convicted felon—a status that makes her recent handgun possession illegal.
Jones was arrested the following Tuesday, slapped with charges including murder, robbery, and illegal firearm possession. She’s now cooling her heels at the Metro Corrections facility, set to face the judge for arraignment on Wednesday morning.
Louisville is still reeling from the shocking incident that turned a minor parking lot squabble into a fatal showdown.
