Drama erupted in Bexar County, Texas, when a Christmas Eve celebration turned deadly, leaving a 42-year-old man shot to death and his girlfriend in handcuffs.

The shocking incident unfolded on December 24th inside a home that, according to police, already had a history of domestic disputes. Now, 36-year-old Courtney Renee Hooper faces a murder charge in the wake of the tragedy.

Hooper, desperate to clear her name, reportedly handed investigators a video she claimed would prove her innocence. Instead, authorities say the footage only strengthened their case against her. “It actually appeared to incriminate her further,” the Bexar County Sheriff told the press, revealing the clip captured the heated exchange between the couple over a cell phone and car—the argument that allegedly spiraled into violence.

The victim, whose identity remains concealed, was discovered unconscious by responding officers that night. Despite frantic attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead on the scene. Disturbingly, police say children were present in the home during the chaos, though officials have not revealed their ages or relationship to the adults involved.

Records show Hooper is being held on $150,000 bond as she awaits trial for first-degree murder. At this time, details regarding her defense attorney are not available. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office confirmed multiple prior visits to the residence for reported domestic incidents.

As the investigation continues, the community is reeling from the grim turn of events that shattered a holiday evening. For those affected by domestic violence, support is available 24/7 through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or thehotline.org.
