A young Illinois mother is fighting to rebuild her life after a terrifying medical emergency turned into a life-altering nightmare—one that left her with devastating injuries and a long road to recovery.

Karma Davis, 25, of Peoria, never imagined that a routine day at home would end in tragedy. But after suffering a sudden epileptic seizure, Davis lost consciousness on her kitchen floor—leaving her vulnerable to an attack by her own family dog, a rescue pit bull named Fayzo.

The shocking incident, which was first detailed in reports and later shared through Davis’ own account, has stunned many and sparked emotional conversations about medical emergencies, pet behavior, and safety.

According to Davis, she has no memory of the attack itself. She only recalls waking up in confusion and panic, unaware at first of the extent of her injuries. It wasn’t until she reached out to her fiancé via video call that the horrifying reality became clear.

“I look like a skeleton. My lips are gone,” she reportedly said as the gravity of the situation set in.

The injuries were severe and life-threatening. Authorities and medical teams confirmed that Davis suffered catastrophic damage to her face, including the loss of much of her lips, cheek, and portions of her nose and ears. Graphic images later revealed just how extensive the trauma was, underscoring the brutality of the attack.

She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors placed her in a medically induced coma for several days. From there, Davis began what would become a long and painful journey through multiple reconstructive surgeries, with more procedures still expected.

Today, her recovery is ongoing—and far from easy.

Due to the severity of her injuries, Davis is currently unable to eat normally and relies on a feeding tube for nourishment. She also requires assistance with daily tasks, including caring for her young child, as she continues to heal physically and emotionally.

Despite the trauma, Davis has expressed mixed emotions about the dog involved. Fayzo had reportedly been part of the family for four years and had been rescued from an abusive environment. Following the attack, the dog was taken by animal control and ultimately euthanized.

While Davis acknowledged the dog’s past and said she felt sympathy, she also admitted she could never feel safe with the animal again.

The incident has left a deep psychological impact as well. Davis has shared that even seeing photos of the dog now can be triggering, a reminder of the moment that changed her life forever.

As she continues her recovery, Davis has turned to the public for support, sharing her story in hopes of raising awareness and helping cover the mounting medical expenses tied to her treatment.

Her experience serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly unexpected medical emergencies can escalate into something far more dangerous—especially when combined with unpredictable circumstances.

Now, with courage and resilience, Davis faces the long road ahead, determined to reclaim her life after an ordeal that has left both physical scars and emotional wounds that may take years to heal. b
