A Florida woman is wanted by authorities after investigators say she siphoned hundreds of thousands of dollars from homeowners association accounts to bankroll a lavish personal lifestyle.
Alexandra Delacaridad Gonzalez, 46, is accused of carrying out the scheme while working as a bookkeeper for Avant-Garde Property Management in Stuart, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators allege that over an extended period, Gonzalez wrote checks to herself from multiple HOA accounts she managed, then covered her tracks using fake invoices and falsified financial records. Authorities say she also forged signatures from authorized account holders to make the transactions appear legitimate.
The funds, officials say, were spent on personal expenses — including shopping sprees, plastic surgery, and luxury travel.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek described the scale of the alleged fraud bluntly, saying Gonzalez “lived a lavish lifestyle” during the period in question. He added that the money has already been spent and is unlikely to be recovered.
According to investigators, Gonzalez now faces a sweeping list of charges, including two counts of fraud exceeding $50,000, two counts of grand theft, 61 counts of uttering false instruments, and 59 counts of embezzlement. Her bond has been set at $1,350,000.
Authorities believe Gonzalez may currently be in the Miramar or Vero Beach areas and are asking the public for help locating her.
Liz Diaz, owner of Avant-Garde Property Management, said the company moved quickly once the alleged misconduct was discovered. In a statement to WPBF 25 News, Diaz said the firm notified clients and law enforcement immediately and has been cooperating fully with the investigation.
“We want to see justice for our clients,” Diaz said, adding that the company is working to support affected communities and assist with any restitution efforts.
Officials are also urging any HOA boards or residents who suspect irregularities in their accounts to come forward as the investigation continues.
