A Tennessee woman is in custody after authorities say she violently attacked her grandfather’s wife with a bat, leaving the elderly woman bleeding on the floor of their home.
Allanah Samples, 24, was arrested and charged with abuse of an elderly person and aggravated assault following the incident, which unfolded on March 23 near Tennessee City, according to law enforcement.
Deputies with the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call reporting that an elderly woman was lying on the floor bleeding inside a residence.
When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from a head injury. Her condition has not been publicly disclosed.
According to an affidavit obtained by the Dickson Post, the victim’s husband — who is also Samples’ grandfather — told deputies that his granddaughter was responsible for the attack. He alleged that Samples struck his wife with a bat.
Authorities said a bat was later recovered from inside the home.
Samples’ behavior at the scene raised further questions.
According to deputies, she apologized repeatedly when law enforcement arrived. She also told officers that her “mommy” had come after her with the bat first. When deputies asked whether she had been struck, Samples reportedly said she had not.
The victim told a different story.
According to investigators, the elderly woman identified Samples as her attacker, alleging that she had been struck multiple times with the bat, including blows to the head and knees.
Police say Samples later admitted to the assault.
A motive for the attack has not been released, and authorities have not indicated what may have led to the confrontation inside the home.
The charges reflect the severity of the alleged violence.

Samples has been charged with aggravated domestic assault and abuse of an elderly person resulting in serious bodily injury — offenses that carry significant penalties under Tennessee law, particularly when the victim is considered vulnerable due to age.
She was booked into the Dickson County Jail, where she remains in custody. Bond information was not immediately available.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for May 25.
The case remains under investigation.
