A woman accused of abandoning her dog at a Las Vegas airport is now facing potential jail time after failing to appear in court, prompting a judge to issue a bench warrant for her arrest.

Authorities say Germiran Denae-Nicole Bryson, 26, missed her scheduled arraignment this week in connection with three misdemeanor charges tied to the incident. A judge ordered a $5,000 warrant after she did not show up.

The case stems from a Feb. 2 incident at Harry Reid International Airport, where Bryson allegedly left behind her goldendoodle after being told she needed to complete additional paperwork to bring the dog on her flight.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Bryson tied the dog to a metal carry-on baggage sizer near a JetBlue ticket counter before proceeding toward her gate without the animal.

Officers later stopped her at the gate and escorted her back through security. Police say she became hostile and resisted their attempts to detain her. She allegedly insisted that the dog had a tracking device, but never returned to retrieve him.

Animal Protective Services took custody of the abandoned dog, who was later adopted by LVMPD Officer Skeeter Black and his family. The pup, nicknamed “Jet Blue,” has since found a new home.

In court, the judge noted that a family member had called to say Bryson was hospitalized out of state and unable to attend the hearing. However, without documentation confirming her condition or timeline, the court moved forward with issuing the warrant.

Bryson’s brother has publicly suggested that she was not of sound judgment at the time of the incident, citing a disability he says she sustained during military service. He described the situation at the airport as overwhelming for her and said leaving the dog behind was out of character.

“A stranger grabs her and how that might escalate a situation for a person with a past like hers,” he said, adding that the dog was “her very best friend.”

Despite those claims, authorities say Bryson still faces legal consequences for abandoning the animal and failing to comply with court proceedings.

The case comes amid growing scrutiny over pet abandonment incidents at airports. In a separate case at Pittsburgh International Airport, a man was arrested after allegedly leaving a Labrador puppy near a departures curb when he was unable to board a flight with the animal.

As for Bryson, she remains wanted on the outstanding warrant, and officials say she could face additional penalties if she does not appear in court.
