A routine trip to Costco turned chaotic in South Florida after a dispute between two customers spiraled into a violent confrontation—one that police say involved a chase, punches thrown in traffic, and even an ax.
According to authorities, the incident unfolded at a Costco gas station in Miami, where 29-year-old Valeria Aguilar allegedly began arguing loudly with other patrons and a station attendant. What started as a verbal disturbance quickly escalated when another customer intervened—setting off a chain of events that ended in injuries and an arrest.
As detailed in local reports, the situation intensified when a fellow shopper pulled her vehicle up near Aguilar and asked the attendant to revoke Aguilar’s Costco membership. That request reportedly angered Aguilar, who then chased after the woman on foot as she drove away.
But the encounter didn’t end there.
Police say Aguilar returned to her own vehicle and began following the other driver through nearby streets. The pursuit reportedly ended at an intersection, where Aguilar got out of her car, approached the woman’s vehicle, and launched a physical attack.

According to the arrest affidavit, Aguilar allegedly punched the woman in the head while she was still seated behind the wheel. Investigators say she also scratched the victim’s face and chest while grabbing her clothing during the altercation.
That’s when the situation took an even more startling turn.
Authorities say the other woman retrieved an ax multitool from inside her vehicle and used it to defend herself, striking Aguilar in the face and arms. Both women suffered cuts and injuries during the encounter. The second driver then left the scene before officers arrived.
When police responded to the intersection, they found Aguilar injured and transported her to a hospital for treatment. After receiving medical care, she was taken into custody and charged with burglary with assault or battery—a serious felony under Florida law.
Officials have not publicly identified the other woman involved in the incident, and it remains unclear whether she will face any charges.
Aguilar was later booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where a judge ordered she be held without bond. Her next court appearance has not yet been announced.
The bizarre nature of the confrontation—particularly the involvement of a weapon during what began as a dispute over behavior at a gas pump—has drawn attention online and raised concerns about how quickly everyday disagreements can escalate.
What began as a tense moment between shoppers ended in a scene more reminiscent of road rage than retail, underscoring how unpredictable public encounters can become when emotions boil over.
As the case moves forward, authorities are continuing to review the incident and determine whether additional charges or actions may be warranted.
