A frantic search is underway on Long Island after a 32-year-old woman mysteriously vanished under alarming circumstances—leaving behind a trail of clues that has only deepened concern among her loved ones.

Brittany Kritis-Garip was last seen Friday night in the upscale Oyster Bay area after what witnesses describe as a sudden and panicked escape from a moving vehicle. According to accounts referenced in coverage of the case, she reportedly jumped out of the car, discarded her phone, and ran off into the night, sparking an urgent missing persons investigation.

Her husband, Fernando Garip, has since made emotional public pleas for help, saying the family has been tirelessly searching wooded areas, neighborhoods, and shoreline regions in hopes of finding her.

“We’re going to be at this until she’s home,” he said, underscoring the desperation driving the ongoing effort.

Surveillance footage captured Kritis-Garip around 8 p.m. the night she disappeared, offering one of the last confirmed sightings. Since then, search efforts have intensified—focusing especially on a marshy stretch near Oyster Bay Harbor, where her wallet was discovered along a road leading toward the water.

That discovery has heightened fears about her safety.

Friends and volunteers have mobilized quickly, coordinating search teams and even launching fundraising efforts to bring in additional resources. A close friend helping lead the search described the situation as critical, emphasizing that time is a key factor.

“We believe she was disoriented and frightened,” the friend said, adding that Kritis-Garip may have believed she was in danger when she fled.

Authorities are also fully engaged. The Nassau County Police Department has deployed helicopters and drones to scan the area, while officers continue canvassing nearby neighborhoods and reviewing possible leads.

Meanwhile, community members are being urged to assist in any way they can.

Search organizers have asked residents to check security cameras, sheds, garages, pool houses, and wooded areas—anywhere someone might seek shelter. Even small pieces of information, they say, could make a critical difference.

Kritis-Garip is described as 5-foot-7, with brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing black pants and a black jacket with a fur-trimmed collar. Loved ones stress that she is not considered dangerous, but rather someone who may be vulnerable and in need of help.

The circumstances surrounding her disappearance—particularly her sudden exit from the vehicle and abandonment of her phone—have raised serious concerns about her mental and physical state at the time.

Still, those closest to her remain focused on one thing: bringing her home.

“Brittany is deeply loved,” her friend wrote in a public appeal. “We are doing everything we can.”

As the search enters a critical phase, officials are asking anyone with information to contact the Nassau County Police Missing Persons Squad.

For now, a community holds its breath—hoping that what began as a terrifying mystery will soon end in a safe return.
