Authorities in Texas are investigating the death of a 54-year-old woman who was found unresponsive during a private spa session in El Paso.
Police were called to the Foliage Hair Salon and Day Spa around 5 p.m. on March 20 after employees discovered the woman unresponsive during what was described as a routine wellness check. Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported her to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The woman has not yet been publicly identified.
According to local reports, the El Paso Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons unit is now investigating the death as a possible drowning. Officials have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The spa’s owner, Laura Rayborn, said in a statement that the woman experienced a “medical emergency” while receiving services at the facility.
“During a scheduled private spa session, our team conducted a routine wellness check and found the guest unresponsive,” Rayborn said. “Emergency services were immediately contacted, and first responders arrived promptly to provide care.”

Rayborn added that the spa is cooperating fully with authorities as the investigation continues.
“Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will not be sharing personal details about this incident,” she said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
An autopsy is expected to determine the official cause and manner of death.
For now, key questions remain unanswered, including how the incident unfolded and whether any underlying medical issues contributed to the woman’s death.
