A quiet suburban street in Crete Township, Illinois became the scene of a brutal triple homicide this week, after deputies responding to a welfare check discovered three members of the same family shot to death.

Authorities say Jenna Strouble, a 30-year-old woman from St. John, Indiana, is now facing nine counts of first-degree murder in connection with the killings. The charges stem from a Monday morning shooting that left a 32-year-old man and his parents dead inside and outside their home.

The case began in the early hours of Monday, when a concerned relative contacted the Will County Sheriff’s Office requesting a welfare check at a residence in the 3400 block of East Norway Trail. It was around 2 a.m. when deputies arrived at the home.

What they found inside and outside the property painted a grim and immediate picture.

Jacob Lambert, 32, was discovered shot to death inside a vehicle parked in the driveway. Just steps away, inside the home near the front door, deputies found the bodies of his parents, 55-year-old Patrick Forde and 54-year-old Stacy Forde. All three had been fatally shot.

Investigators quickly determined that all three victims lived at the residence, turning what began as a welfare check into a full-scale homicide investigation.

Authorities have not yet released the official causes of death, pending autopsy results from the medical examiner’s office. But the scene itself—one victim in a car, two just inside the threshold of the home—suggests a violent encounter that unfolded across multiple points of the property.

According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, Strouble was identified as a suspect within hours. She had been in an on-and-off relationship with Lambert, and the two shared multiple children, adding a deeply personal dimension to the case.

After the shootings, investigators believe Strouble fled the scene and drove across state lines to her home in St. John, Indiana. Law enforcement tracked her there and took her into custody later that same day.

Authorities say she made “incriminating statements” following her arrest, though they have not publicly detailed what those statements contained. Investigators also reportedly recovered a weapon from her home that they believe matches the firearm used in the killings.

Strouble is currently being held in the Lake County Jail in Indiana as she awaits extradition back to Illinois, where she will face the murder charges.

The motive behind the killings remains unclear, though the history between Strouble and Lambert is expected to play a central role in the investigation. The fact that Lambert’s parents were also killed raises further questions about how and why the violence escalated to such an extent.

For neighbors in Crete Township, the shock has been immediate.

The area, described by residents as quiet and family-oriented, is not accustomed to this level of violence. The discovery of three bodies in a single home—triggered by a worried relative’s call—has left many grappling with how such a tragedy could unfold so close to home.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not indicated whether additional charges or details may emerge.
