A Connecticut woman who moved to the United States seeking a better future was allegedly beaten to death by her partner in a brutal killing that ended in a murder-suicide, authorities say.

Diana Enamorado Perdomo, 44, was found dead inside a residence in Hebron, Connecticut, early Friday morning after police responded to a disturbance call.

According to a statement from Connecticut State Police, officers arrived at the home around 3 a.m. on March 13. When no one answered the door, police forced their way inside the residence.

Inside, they discovered Perdomo deceased.

Authorities also found the body of 44-year-old Gregorio Calihua-Mantiel inside the home.

Investigators are treating Perdomo’s death as a homicide and Calihua-Mantiel’s death as a suicide. While police did not initially detail what happened inside the home, the New Haven Register reported that investigators have determined the case to be a murder-suicide.

According to the report, Calihua-Mantiel died from ligature compression of his neck.

Family members say the killing was especially brutal.

In a GoFundMe page created to help Perdomo’s loved ones, her niece described the death as an act of “unimaginable cruelty” carried out by the woman’s partner.

Relatives allege that Perdomo was beaten to death with a bat, according to Honduran news outlets HCH TV and Tu Nota.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed that detail.

The tragedy has left a grieving family across international borders. Perdomo was a Honduran national who had come to the United States with the hope of building a better life.

Now, her family is pleading for help to bring her body home.

Perdomo leaves behind three daughters who remain in Honduras. They are asking for assistance so they can repatriate her remains and lay her to rest in her home country.

“We want to be able to bring her back to her country of origin so we can hold a wake and give her a Christian burial,” one of her daughters told Honduran television outlet HCH TV.

The daughter explained that her mother had come to the United States with plans to work and eventually return home.

“She left almost three years ago with the idea of having a better life and returning in five years,” she said.

Instead, the family now faces the devastating task of mourning her death from thousands of miles away.

In the online fundraiser, Perdomo’s niece Rubi remembered her as a devoted mother and hardworking woman who sacrificed greatly for her family.

“She was an incredible mother, a loving grandmother, and a woman who taught me the meaning of hard work, kindness, and what it means to be a good human being,” Rubi wrote.

Friends and relatives say Perdomo’s dream was simple — to support her family and create opportunities for her children.

Now those who loved her are left trying to honor her life while grappling with the shocking violence that ended it.

Connecticut State Police have not announced any further details about the investigation.

Authorities have also not said whether anyone else was inside the residence at the time of the incident.
