A pregnant teenager is dead and a 4-year-old girl is now without her mother after prosecutors say the young woman was shot by her boyfriend during a violent confrontation inside a Philadelphia home.

Lemmarra Bradshaw, 18, was killed on March 9 in a shooting that has devastated her family and shocked the local community.

Bradshaw was pregnant with her second child at the time of her death.

Her boyfriend, Robert Tatum, 29, has since been charged with voluntary manslaughter, possessing an instrument of crime with intent and recklessly endangering another person, according to court records.

Authorities say the fatal shooting happened during an argument between the couple.

According to reports from local outlets, Tatum claimed Bradshaw attacked him with a knife and a screwdriver before he allegedly shot her.

Police have not publicly detailed the full sequence of events that led to the shooting, but Bradshaw’s family strongly disputes Tatum’s version of what happened.

Instead, relatives say the relationship had long been marked by abuse and control.

Bradshaw’s aunt told 6 ABC Philadelphia that Tatum had assaulted the teenager just weeks before her death.

“He punched her in her face, like, two weeks ago,” the aunt said.

Despite the alleged violence, Bradshaw returned to the relationship shortly afterward.

Family members believe manipulation and emotional control kept her trapped.

“He manipulated her,” the aunt said. “He’s always in a jealous rage.”

The night of the shooting, the couple was reportedly arguing.

One dispute may have centered around a hamster Bradshaw’s mother had recently purchased for her 4-year-old daughter.

But relatives say the real tension stemmed from accusations that Tatum had been cheating.

Whatever the exact trigger, the confrontation turned deadly.

Bradshaw was shot and killed, ending the life of a young woman who relatives say was trying to build a future for herself and her children.

The tragedy also left behind her 4-year-old daughter, who has now lost both her mother and her unborn sibling.

Bradshaw’s mother, Michelle Adekola, said the grief has been overwhelming.

“I feel like I didn’t protect her enough to let this man kill my daughter,” Adekola told reporters.

“I wasn’t there to help her. It makes me feel broken inside.”

Friends and relatives have begun organizing support for the family while also mourning the sudden loss.

On a GoFundMe page created in Bradshaw’s memory, loved ones described the tragedy as an “unimaginable loss.”

“Her death has left a deep and painful void in the hearts of everyone who loved her,” the message reads.

“The loss of both Lemmarra and her unborn baby has devastated our family and our community.”

The family says they are now focused on honoring Bradshaw’s life and caring for the young daughter she leaves behind.

Meanwhile, the criminal case against Tatum is moving forward.

He appeared in court for a preliminary arraignment on March 11.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 30, when prosecutors are expected to present more evidence about the events that led to Bradshaw’s death.

For Bradshaw’s family, however, no legal outcome will erase the loss.
