Authorities in Iowa say a disturbing plot involving a homemade meal has led to serious criminal charges after investigators discovered that a lasagna delivered to a family was allegedly laced with oxycodone in an attempt to cause a miscarriage.

According to investigators, 36-year-old Amber Dena Snow of Decorah was arrested after law enforcement determined the meal had been intentionally contaminated with the prescription opioid. Officials say the dish was delivered on December 28, 2025, to a household that included a pregnant woman who was unaware anything was wrong with the food.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office received a report about the suspicious lasagna. Authorities then began an investigation that included testing the food, which confirmed the presence of oxycodone, a powerful controlled substance.

Snow now faces a long list of felony charges, including attempted nonconsensual termination of a pregnancy, delivering a controlled substance, and several counts of administering harmful substances to both adults and juveniles. She is also charged with child endangerment, according to law enforcement officials. The allegations were detailed in reports by the Des Moines Register and local outlet WXOW.

Investigators say the case may involve more than one person. While Snow has been charged so far, officials noted that the investigation also examined a possible co-conspirator, and additional arrests or charges could follow as the probe continues.

Authorities said they were able to link Snow to the alleged scheme through electronic communications and internet search history, which investigators believe provided evidence of planning related to the food delivery and the drug used.

Court documents also suggest a complicated personal connection between Snow and the intended victim. Reports indicate that Snow shares custody of a child with someone related to the pregnant woman, creating a link between the families involved in the case.

One striking detail from the investigation is that the child connected to Snow reportedly knew about the alleged plan and opposed it, according to investigators.

Snow is currently being held on a $100,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court March 13th. Authorities say the case remains under active investigation as they continue reviewing evidence and possible additional involvement.

For now, the shocking allegations have drawn widespread attention, highlighting a case where something as ordinary as a home-cooked meal allegedly became part of a dangerous and carefully planned crime.
