A Georgia mother is sharing the heartbreaking moment she discovered her daughter lying motionless in the street after a fight with another student near their neighborhood bus stop.
The tragic incident involved 12-year-old Jada West, who collapsed after a confrontation with another girl in Villa Rica, Georgia, just outside Atlanta. According to reports highlighted by the New York Post, the fight occurred shortly after students had gotten off the school bus in the area.
Jada’s mother, Rashunda McClendon, said she was alerted to the situation when one of her daughter’s friends rushed to find her. The girl told her something was wrong, prompting McClendon to drive to the scene immediately.
When she arrived, she found her daughter lying on the ground and unresponsive.
“I got in the car and drove up there, and she was on the ground. She wasn’t breathing,” McClendon recalled during an emotional interview with local media.
Cellphone footage circulating online reportedly shows the fight between Jada and another student before the young girl falls to the pavement. At one point during the altercation, she appeared to lose consciousness.
Family members say Jada had recently transferred to Mason Creek Middle School and had been experiencing bullying before the incident.

Following the fight, Jada was rushed to Tanner Medical Center, where doctors worked to stabilize her condition. According to her family, she later suffered seizures and cardiac complications. She died days later after being hospitalized.
The devastating loss has left her family searching for answers — and calling for accountability.
“It’s not right that the other kids get to go to school and my niece is not here anymore,” Jada’s aunt said while speaking to reporters.
So far, no criminal charges have been filed, and authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
Police in Villa Rica confirmed they are working with the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether charges will be brought in connection with the incident.
School officials also addressed the situation, explaining that the fight did not occur on school property or during school hours, meaning the matter falls under the jurisdiction of local law enforcement rather than the school district.
In response to the tragedy, counselors have been made available for students and staff as the community continues to process the loss.
As investigators continue reviewing the case, Jada’s family says their focus remains on honoring her memory and seeking justice for the young girl whose life was cut short.
