A frightening incident unfolded in one of Los Angeles’ most exclusive neighborhoods after a woman allegedly fired multiple gunshots at the mansion of global music star Rihanna, sending shockwaves through the quiet community.
According to a report by the New York Post, the suspect was arrested Sunday after authorities say she opened fire on the singer’s home using an AR-15-style rifle. Police say Rihanna was inside the residence at the time, though fortunately no one was injured.
Los Angeles police officers responded to reports of gunfire around 1:21 p.m. near the property. By the time they arrived, several shots had already been fired. Investigators later determined that between seven and nine rounds were discharged, with four bullets striking the house, according to law enforcement sources cited in the report.
One of the rounds reportedly pierced part of the mansion’s exterior wall, raising serious concerns about what could have happened if anyone had been standing nearby.
Authorities say the suspected shooter fired from a vehicle parked across the street from the gated property. After the gunfire, the suspect allegedly fled the scene in a white Tesla, speeding away from the area as neighbors began calling police.
Officers quickly launched a search for the vehicle, sharing details over police radio about the suspect’s description, including clothing and hairstyle. The search ended roughly 30 minutes later, when police located and arrested the woman in the parking lot of a shopping center in Sherman Oaks.
Investigators say the suspect appears to be a woman in her 30s. As of now, authorities are still trying to determine what motivated the shooting. According to sources close to Rihanna’s family, both she and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, were left puzzled by the attack and do not appear to know the suspect.
“They don’t know much,” a source told the outlet, adding that the family remains in the dark about why the incident happened.
Neighbors described the terrifying moment when gunfire shattered the otherwise peaceful afternoon.
One resident said she was inside her home when she heard loud popping sounds echoing through the neighborhood. Another neighbor recalled hearing what sounded like nearly ten shots in rapid succession and immediately realizing it was gunfire.
Many in the area expressed shock that such violence could occur in a typically quiet and affluent community.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky live in the $13.8 million mansion, which the singer purchased in 2021. The home sits in a celebrity-filled neighborhood that also includes properties owned by stars like Madonna and Mariah Carey.
The couple shares three young children and have largely kept their family life private.
This is not the first security scare involving Rihanna’s homes. In 2018, a man broke into one of her properties and remained inside for hours before being discovered.
For now, the case has been handed over to detectives from the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division, who will continue investigating the suspect’s motive and whether the attack specifically targeted the singer or her family.
While the incident ended without injuries, neighbors and fans alike are left shaken by how close the situation came to becoming far more tragic.
