Jennifer Runyon, an actress known for her roles in the classic film Ghostbusters and the long-running soap opera Another World, has died after a battle with cancer. She was 65.

News of Runyon’s passing was first shared by actress Erin Murphy, best known for her role in the sitcom Bewitched. Murphy announced the loss in a heartfelt social media post, remembering Runyon as a warm and unforgettable friend.

“So sad to share that my friend Jennifer Runyon Corman has passed away after a brief battle with cancer,” Murphy wrote. “She was a special lady. I’ll miss you Jenn.”

According to reporting from KING 5 News, Runyon’s family also confirmed her death in a message posted online. In the statement, loved ones said she passed away Friday night after what they described as a long and difficult journey with illness. She was surrounded by family at the time.

The family’s message celebrated Runyon’s positive spirit and devotion to those closest to her.

“She will always be remembered for her love of life and her devotion to her family and friends,” the statement read.

Runyon’s daughter, Bayley, also shared an emotional tribute on social media, writing that many of the qualities she treasures in herself came from her mother. The message reflected the deep bond the actress shared with her family.

Runyon built a steady career in Hollywood beginning in the early 1980s. Over the years, she appeared in a wide range of television series and films, earning nearly 40 acting credits throughout her career.

One of her most recognizable roles came in the beloved 1984 supernatural comedy Ghostbusters, which remains a cultural phenomenon decades after its release. She also appeared on the popular daytime soap Another World, where she gained recognition among television audiences.

Her television work extended to numerous well-known shows from the era. She appeared in an episode of The Fall Guyin 1983 and later played the character Gwendolyn Pierce in the sitcom Charles in Charge, appearing in 18 episodes. Runyon also made appearances in the science fiction series Quantum Leap in 1989.

Even decades later, she continued working in film and television. One of her later credits included the 2020 Western film Gunfight at Silver Creek.

Runyon’s career reflected the versatility that many working actors bring to Hollywood—moving between sitcoms, dramas, films and guest appearances while building a lasting résumé across several decades.

Outside of acting, Runyon focused heavily on her family. According to her IMDb profile, she was married to basketball coach Todd Corman, and together they raised two children.
