An argument over a cellphone inside a Waco apartment escalated into a violent confrontation that left a man injured and his girlfriend behind bars, according to Texas authorities.

Terriana Johnson has been charged with aggravated assault following an incident Wednesday at a residence in the 1900 block of South 5th Street, jail records reviewed by Law&Crime show. She was booked into the McLennan County Jail on Thursday and is being held on a $10,000 bond.

According to an arrest affidavit reviewed by regional CBS affiliate KWTX-TV, Johnson was at home with her boyfriend of approximately one year when the situation turned volatile.

The boyfriend was in the shower when Johnson allegedly entered the bathroom screaming at him. The affidavit states that when he stepped out of the shower, he saw Johnson coming from the kitchen armed with three knives.

She allegedly approached him and said, “I’m going to cut you if you don’t give me your f— phone.”

Authorities say the dispute centered around access to a cellphone. Johnson reportedly accused her boyfriend of taking her phone. He, however, told police that she was demanding his device.

As tensions escalated, the boyfriend allegedly grabbed bed sheets in an attempt to shield himself. Despite that effort, Johnson is accused of cutting him with one of the knives, leaving him with a visible injury to his left arm.

The boyfriend then fled the apartment and sought help at a neighbor’s home, prompting a call to law enforcement.

When officers arrived, they first spoke with Johnson, who reportedly claimed that her boyfriend had taken her phone and pushed her to the ground. According to police, she had no visible injuries.

When officers later located and interviewed the boyfriend in person, they observed a cut on his left arm consistent with a knife wound, the affidavit stated.

Asked about the injury, Johnson allegedly told officers she did not know how it happened.

She later admitted to having scissors in her hand during the altercation. When asked why she was holding them, she reportedly responded that they were “to cut the sheets,” according to KWTX.

The affidavit does not clarify why multiple knives were allegedly retrieved from the kitchen, nor does it indicate whether any other weapons were used during the incident.

Domestic disputes that escalate into violence often unfold quickly, fueled by accusations and mistrust. In this case, what police describe as a confrontation over a phone appears to have spiraled into a situation involving multiple edged weapons and a physical injury.

Johnson was arrested at the scene and transported to the McLennan County Jail. As of her booking, bond was set at $10,000.

The case now moves through the Texas criminal justice system, where prosecutors will determine how to proceed on the aggravated assault charge.
