Flavor Flav is taking his support for women’s sports to the Vegas Strip.

The 66-year-old rap icon announced he will host a multi-day celebration in Las Vegas this July honoring the U.S. women’s Olympic ice hockey team after their gold medal victory at the Milano Cortina Winter Games. But the event isn’t just about one team — it’s being billed as a broader tribute to female Olympians and Paralympians across sports.

Flav revealed on social media that the “She Got Game” weekend will run from July 16–19 in partnership with MGM Resorts. The festivities are expected to include dinners, entertainment and special events designed to give the athletes what he called “a real celebration.”

The announcement comes just days after the women’s hockey team declined an invitation to attend President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address. USA Hockey cited scheduling and travel logistics in politely turning down the opportunity to join the men’s team, who had accepted a late invitation following their own gold medal win.

Trump had extended the invitation during a locker room congratulatory call with the men’s team, joking that he would “probably be impeached” if he didn’t also invite the women’s squad, who defeated Canada in overtime just days earlier to capture gold.

Flavor Flav’s Vegas invite quickly followed.

In a message shared publicly, the Public Enemy co-founder said he formally reached out to the players, offering a celebratory trip complete with shows and special experiences. He also launched a GoFundMe campaign aimed at supporting U.S. female Olympic medalists and helping fund the weekend’s events.

“Many of y’all asked how you can support and donate to our female athletes,” Flav wrote, adding that he hopes the effort will extend beyond one weekend and provide lasting support for women representing the United States on the global stage.

This isn’t Flav’s first time stepping into the sports spotlight. In recent years, he has emerged as an enthusiastic backer of women’s athletics. He previously supported the U.S. women’s water polo team at the Paris Olympics and served as an official hype man for the U.S. bobsleigh and skeleton teams at the Winter Games.

His latest move further cements that role — blending celebrity, sports and celebration in a way that’s drawing attention far beyond the rink.

It’s not yet clear whether the entire 23-player women’s hockey roster will attend the Las Vegas event, as USA Hockey has not publicly confirmed participation. But the invitation alone has generated buzz, especially given the timing.

As conversations continue around women’s sports, recognition and equal celebration, Flav’s high-profile Vegas weekend could become one of the summer’s most talked-about athletic gatherings — and a headline-making moment for champions who just delivered Olympic gold.
