Authorities in Enterprise, Alabama, are escalating their efforts in the search for 2-year-old Genesis Reid, who was reported missing in the early hours of Monday morning.

According to the Enterprise Police Department, officers were dispatched around 3 a.m. to a home on Apache Drive after Genesis’ mother reported that the toddler was no longer inside the residence. Investigators said the child’s mother told them she went to check on Genesis and discovered she was missing. The front door of the home was reportedly found open.

As detectives continued to gather information, they conducted multiple interviews and uncovered troubling details: Genesis had not been seen in several weeks prior to the report of her disappearance.

By Tuesday, police confirmed that the child’s mother, Adrienne Reid, was being detained for questioning as the investigation unfolds. Officials have not announced any charges.

Investigators are also asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a woman named Moriah. Police describe her as a Black female known to frequent Levels Bar and Grille on Daleville Avenue in Enterprise, as well as areas in nearby Ozark. Authorities say they are seeking to speak with her in connection to Genesis or her mother and are urging anyone with information about Moriah to come forward.

Genesis’ father and other family members are cooperating fully with investigators, police said.

Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore emphasized that the search has drawn support from numerous agencies at the local, state and federal levels. A coordinated, large-scale search operation was launched Tuesday, with officers and volunteers combing designated areas using strategic patterns designed to preserve potential evidence.

“We have a large search party out today,” Moore said, urging residents not to enter search zones unless they are officially part of the effort. He encouraged those who wish to assist to contact the police department directly when additional help is needed.

Moore stressed that even the smallest detail could prove significant in locating the missing child.

“If you have any tips, you may think it is a small piece, but that small piece could be a huge part of a very large puzzle,” he said.

Anyone with information about Genesis Reid — including possible sightings or knowledge of when she was last seen — is asked to contact the Enterprise Police Department at 334-347-2222.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
