Reality television alum Stephanie Pratt ignited fresh family tension on Valentine’s Day, launching a blistering public rebuke of her brother, Spencer Pratt, and arguing he has no business seeking to lead Los Angeles.
In a series of posts on X dated Feb. 14, Pratt made clear she would not be backing her brother if he pursues citywide office, despite online pressure from some followers urging her to show family solidarity. She said she is “WORRIED about LA” and believes the city’s size and complexity demand experienced leadership.
Spencer Pratt, best known for his role on MTV’s The Hills, has recently been mentioned by supporters as a potential contender for mayor of Los Angeles. Stephanie Pratt acknowledged what she called his “great work” in the Pacific Palisades community, but drew a sharp distinction between local neighborhood involvement and governing a city of nearly four million residents.
She accused her brother of seeking political attention primarily to maintain celebrity relevance and promote a forthcoming memoir. In multiple posts, she characterized him as unqualified and inexperienced for citywide leadership.
Beyond political concerns, Pratt detailed deeply personal allegations about their past, including claims of physical violence and substance abuse. She wrote that he introduced her to drugs when she was 15 and alleged he had his own hidden addiction. She also claimed he assaulted her when she was 18, resulting in hospitalization — assertions she said she had kept private for years.
Pratt further referenced what she described as a period in which her brother was involved with a cult, saying that after years of estrangement from the family, he contacted their father from jail following an arrest in Costa Rica related to illegal firearms.
She did not provide documentation for those claims, and Spencer Pratt has not publicly responded to the allegations.
Stephanie Pratt also invoked her longstanding loyalty to Lauren Conrad, reiterating past tensions dating back to The Hills era and accusing her brother and his wife of trying to damage Conrad’s reputation for publicity.
Amid the personal disclosures, Pratt emphasized that she is stepping away from entertainment and is focused on training as a RBT, a role that supports children and adults with autism. She said she has little interest in fame and is concentrating on her new career path.
While she suggested that Spencer Pratt might be better suited to hyperlocal leadership in the Palisades, she insisted that Los Angeles requires seasoned governance and warned followers against what she described as elevating celebrity over competence.
Her posts have since sparked debate online, blending politics, reality TV history and long-simmering family conflict into a very public dispute over who should lead one of America’s largest cities.
