Dayton police and prosecutors are piecing together the final moments of 33-year-old Jaime Dick, a mother of two who died after being shot early Tuesday in an incident that authorities say ended with her boyfriend calling 911 and admitting he pulled the trigger.
According to an affidavit summarized in court filings, Jayme Rogers, 34, dialed emergency dispatch around 2 a.m. and urged responders to hurry. He told the dispatcher that “get here quick, someone is shot,” then identified the victim as his girlfriend and acknowledged he was the shooter.
In the same call, Rogers made a chilling comment about Dick, telling dispatchers she “got what she deserved,” the affidavit states, tying the shooting to his allegation that she had been unfaithful.

Officers with the Dayton Police Department arrived to find Rogers outside. Court documents say he approached police and again said he had shot Dick.
Investigators located Dick inside a structure near her home that was still running, records indicate. She was transported to a hospital, where she later died. The affidavit says she had been shot three times.
Rogers was arrested and is now facing charges that include murder, felonious assault and weapons offenses, according to WHIO.
The case also raises questions about how Rogers obtained a firearm. Court paperwork says he was barred from possessing weapons because of a prior conviction. Court records in Montgomery County show earlier drug-related convictions.
A judge set Rogers’ bond at $1 million and ordered him to return to court on Feb. 20, according to Law&Crime.
Dick’s obituary describes her as the mother of two children.
