An Ohio mother is facing criminal charges after hospital staff reported witnessing her inject a harmful substance into her child’s intravenous line while the child was receiving medical care, according to authorities in Columbus.
Police say the incident occurred at a local hospital, where Tiffany Le Sueur, 35, had been staying with her child. A criminal complaint states that on February 6, hospital employees observed Le Sueur injecting an unidentified foreign substance into the child’s IV. Two days later, on February 8, staff members again noticed similar behavior and believed the substance involved was human waste. At that point, hospital officials contacted law enforcement.
According to police reports, medical staff reviewed surveillance footage from the child’s hospital room as part of their internal investigation. The video allegedly showed Le Sueur entering the bathroom while carrying a cup, then returning to the room with a syringe. Investigators say the footage appears to show her placing material believed to be fecal matter into the syringe before injecting it into the IV line connected to the child’s hand.
Hospital employees intervened and alerted authorities out of concern for the child’s safety. Police responded to the hospital and began an investigation, which led to Le Sueur’s arrest. Officials have not released information about the child’s condition or whether the child suffered any medical complications as a result of the alleged actions.
Le Sueur has been charged with child endangerment, a serious offense that alleges she knowingly placed her child at risk of harm. During a court appearance on Tuesday, a judge imposed strict bail conditions, including an order prohibiting her from having unsupervised contact with minors. The restriction is intended to protect children while the case proceeds through the legal system.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for February 19, at which time prosecutors are expected to present evidence supporting the charge. It remains unclear whether additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive, and police have not commented on whether the incident may be connected to any prior concerns involving the family. The case has drawn significant attention due to the disturbing nature of the allegations and the setting in which they allegedly occurred.
Hospital officials have not publicly commented on the case but emphasized that patient safety remains their top priority. The investigation is ongoing, and Le Sueur is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
