Stephen Curry is used to talking about championships and three-pointers, but at the Los Angeles premiere of his new animated film GOAT, the NBA superstar opened up about something far more personal: how he and his wife, Ayesha Curry, keep their marriage strong after more than a decade together.

Appearing at the February 6 premiere alongside Ayesha, Curry shared that the foundation of their 14-year marriage comes down to one essential principle—consistent, honest communication. He explained that over time, they’ve built a level of trust that allows them to speak openly without fear that difficult conversations will turn into personal attacks. For the couple, being able to express stress, frustrations, or emotions freely has been crucial, especially while navigating demanding careers and raising four children.

Curry emphasized that life’s pressures—parenting, work, and public attention—make intentional communication even more important. Prioritizing each other amid busy schedules, he said, helps them stay grounded and connected despite the chaos that can come with their lifestyle.

Ayesha echoed that sentiment, adding that they’re deliberate about carving out time together, even if it doesn’t look like a traditional date night. For the Currys, events like movie premieres still count as quality time. What matters most, she explained, is maintaining the sense of togetherness and remembering why they chose to build a life together in the first place.

The premiere marked another milestone for the couple: their first time appearing together in a film. GOAT, which hits theaters on February 13, is an animated sports comedy about a young goat chasing dreams of playing professional “roarball.” Steph voices a giraffe named Lenny Williamson, while Ayesha also lends her voice to the project. Curry admitted that working alongside his wife helped ease him into the unfamiliar world of voice acting. Watching Ayesha—who has acting experience—during their first recording session gave him confidence and insight into how physical and immersive the process could be.

While Curry didn’t rule out future acting projects with his wife, he made it clear that any collaboration would need to happen naturally, without forcing opportunities for the sake of it.

Steph and Ayesha Curry, who met as teenagers in North Carolina, married in 2011 and renewed their vows after ten years together. Now parents to four children, they continue to balance family, creativity, and career—anchored by communication, intentional time together, and mutual respect.
