Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos gives updates on the search for Nancy Guthrie on Feb. 3, 2026.

As the search for Nancy Guthrie continues into its second week, investigators have expanded their efforts to multiple locations connected to her family. Authorities recently searched the home of her daughter, Annie Guthrie, and also conducted a detailed inspection of the septic system behind Nancy’s own residence as part of a broader property sweep.

Detectives visited the home Annie shares with her husband, Tommaso Cioni, on the evening of February 7. The visit came just hours after Annie and her siblings, Savannah and Camron, released an emotional public video appeal asking for their mother’s safe return.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has indicated that these searches are routine steps in an active missing-person investigation. The following day, law enforcement returned to Nancy’s property, where drone footage captured investigators using specialized equipment to examine the septic tank area behind the home.

Officials have confirmed that detectives are continuing follow-up activity at various locations but have not released details due to the sensitive nature of the ongoing case. At this stage, authorities say they have not identified any suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles connected to Nancy’s disappearance.

Sheriff’s officials have also stated that they plan to maintain a security presence at Nancy Guthrie’s home moving forward, at the request of the Guthrie family.

Timeline of Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the night of January 31, after being dropped off at her home around 9:48 p.m. Investigators noted that her doorbell camera was disconnected several hours later at approximately 1:47 a.m. Later that day, her pacemaker monitoring app reportedly lost connection at 2:28 p.m., adding to concerns about her whereabouts.

During a February 5 press briefing, Sheriff Chris Nanos said evidence found at the scene—including blood discovered on the porch—supports the belief that Nancy may have been taken from her home against her will.

Ransom Notes and Ongoing Leads

Authorities are also investigating ransom communications that were reportedly sent to media outlets and local officials. One message included a deadline of February 5 and another date of February 9. An additional note was reportedly received by a media organization on February 6.

While investigators have not confirmed whether the messages are authentic or connected to the same source, Nancy’s family responded publicly on February 7, signaling they had received communication and were willing to cooperate in hopes of bringing her home safely.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to Nancy Guthrie’s safe return or the arrest of anyone responsible.
