An Oklahoma City woman is suing Sonic Drive‑In, alleging that a violent late-night stabbing in one of its restaurant parking lots was made worse by inadequate security and broken surveillance equipment.

According to a lawsuit filed in Oklahoma County District Court, Linda Hollrah was attacked around 11:30 p.m. on December 16 while picking up food at a Sonic near Northeast 23rd Street and Santa Fe Avenue. Hollrah says she had just returned from a concert and placed a pickup order, then followed employees’ instructions to wait in a drive-in stall until her food was brought out.

While she sat in her car, a masked man allegedly approached without speaking and began stabbing her repeatedly. The complaint states Hollrah was stabbed in the arm, chest, liver, and knee before the attacker fled the scene on foot.

Hollrah survived the assault but required emergency surgery and has already accumulated roughly $250,000 in medical bills. Another major leg surgery is still expected, and she has been unable to work during her recovery, according to the lawsuit.

The suit accuses Sonic Industries LLC of negligence, claiming the company failed to provide basic security measures despite allegedly knowing about prior assaults involving patrons at the location. Hollrah also claims surveillance cameras on the property were not working at the time of the attack, eliminating any immediate video evidence that could have aided investigators.

Her attorney, Tom Cummings, told The Oklahoman that Hollrah received no warnings from staff to lock her doors or keep her windows up while waiting.

Hollrah is seeking damages in excess of $10,000 for medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering. The complaint argues Sonic “had reason to know of the danger posed to its customers” based on the area’s history and failed to take reasonable steps to protect them.
