Jason Aldean and Brittany Aldean
Brittany Aldean is making it clear she has no plans to tune into Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance—at least not if she has another option. The wife of country star Jason Aldean is openly backing Turning Point’s alternative broadcast, the All-American Halftime Show, which will air at the same time as Super Bowl LX’s official halftime entertainment.
The 37-year-old commented on singer Brantley Gilbert’s Instagram post promoting the Turning Point event, writing, “It’s going to be awesome, excited to watch.” Her enthusiasm quickly fueled online chatter, as the alternative show is already shaping up to be one of the most politically charged entertainment storylines of the Super Bowl.
Turning Point, the conservative organization founded by the late activist Charlie Kirk, announced in October 2025 that it would host its own halftime show to compete directly with the NFL’s headliner, Bad Bunny. The Turning Point lineup features a heavy country and rock roster, including Gilbert, Kid Rock, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett.

Brittany’s support appears personal as well as political. She and Jason Aldean were reportedly close friends with Kirk and publicly mourned his death after he was fatally shot in September 2025. Following the tragedy, Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, stepped into leadership as CEO and chairperson of Turning Point, and she has fully endorsed the halftime event as a cultural statement and tribute to her late husband.
The showdown between the two halftime performances has become a flashpoint, especially among conservative commentators. Some critics—including President Donald Trump—have condemned the NFL’s decision to feature Bad Bunny, with complaints centering on the fact that much of his music is performed in Spanish. Supporters of the artist have pushed back against the criticism, noting that Bad Bunny is an American citizen because Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory.
Brantley Gilbert, who will perform in the alternative show, defended his participation by saying the decision wasn’t meant to be divisive. He argued that country music has been ignored on the Super Bowl stage for decades, pointing out that no country artist has headlined the halftime show since Shania Twain’s 2003 performance alongside Sting and No Doubt. Gilbert said he accepted the offer imagining his children watching him perform during the biggest game in football.

Still, controversy has followed the Turning Point event, largely because of Kid Rock. Social media debate reignited after his 2001 song “Cool, Daddy Cool” resurfaced, with critics calling out lyrics referencing underage girls. Kid Rock has not directly responded to the backlash, but he has framed the halftime competition as a “David and Goliath” battle, positioning Turning Point’s show as a patriotic alternative to Bad Bunny’s performance. In his statement, he mocked the NFL show’s vibe while promising music “for folks who love America.”

Erika Kirk described the All-American Halftime Show as a way to provide families with an alternative option and said her husband would have loved being “in the forefront” of the culture war.
With Super Bowl Sunday here, the halftime stage is now more than entertainment—it’s a cultural showdown. And if Brittany Aldean is any indication, the audience may be more divided than ever.
