Brooklyn police are asking for the public’s help after a disturbing assault on a city bus left a 72-year-old woman hospitalized and shaken.
According to the NYPD, the incident happened around 6:08 p.m. on Thursday, near the intersection of Glenwood Road and Nostrand Avenue, as the victim rode a B6 MTA bus through the Flatbush neighborhood. Investigators say a female suspect approached the elderly passenger and began arguing with her, quickly escalating the situation into violence.
New details suggest the confrontation may have been triggered by something as minor as a seat dispute. Authorities say the victim briefly stood up from her seat and then sat back down shortly afterward. That small action allegedly enraged the suspect, who was reportedly a stranger to the victim. Police sources described the attack as sudden and aggressive, leaving other commuters stunned.
Without warning, the suspect allegedly began punching the 72-year-old woman repeatedly in the face. Witnesses on the bus reportedly watched in disbelief as the attacker continued the assault, causing panic and chaos among passengers. The violence appeared unprovoked and intense, with police saying the victim was struck multiple times before the suspect fled.

Emergency responders arrived shortly after the assault and transported the injured woman to Mount Sinai Brooklyn for treatment. Authorities confirmed the victim is expected to survive and her injuries are not considered life-threatening, though the incident has raised serious concerns about public safety on city transit.
After the attack, the suspect reportedly ran off the bus and fled northbound along Nostrand Avenue, disappearing into the neighborhood before officers could locate her. As of now, no arrests have been made.
In an effort to track her down, the NYPD released surveillance images and a description of the suspect. Police say the woman has a dark complexion and was last seen wearing a light-colored puffy or bubble jacket, black-and-white striped pants, and a hat.
Detectives are urging anyone who may recognize the suspect or witnessed the assault to come forward. Authorities believe tips from passengers or nearby residents could be key to identifying the woman and making an arrest.
The NYPD continues to investigate and is asking anyone with information to contact law enforcement immediately.
