Lisa Kudrow is not asking for much. She just wants Hollywood to remember what it already has.
In a recent interview with Architectural Digest, the actor made a heartfelt appeal to whoever ends up owning Warner Bros. Discovery: preserve the iconic studio lot in Burbank exactly as it is.
“It’s hard for me to tell whether Warner Bros. is just special to me, or if it’s special to the whole city or industry, and I think it is,” Kudrow said, reflecting on the space that served as her professional home for more than a decade. “Everything changes ownership all the time and you don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Kudrow, best known for her role on Friends, didn’t mince words about her hopes for the studio’s future. “I think most people really really hope whatever happens next is that this studio lot is preserved as is,” she said. “Whoever buys it, you don’t need to change anything! It works. It works great!”
She even made a specific request, one that feels almost symbolic of Hollywood’s fragile continuity. “Please, please don’t remove Jack Warner’s roses,” Kudrow added, referencing the historic landscaping tied to the studio’s founding family.
The plea comes at a moment of intense uncertainty for Warner Bros. Discovery. In December, Netflix, led by co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, announced a sweeping deal to acquire the company for nearly $82 billion. The bid includes marquee assets like HBO and HBO Max and signaled a dramatic reshaping of Hollywood’s power structure.
That move immediately sparked a counteroffensive. David Ellison’s Paramount Skydance launched a $108.7 billion hostile offer for the entire company, including its cable networks. When Warner Bros. Discovery rejected that proposal in favor of Netflix’s, Paramount Skydance responded with a lawsuit, arguing it deserved more transparency about how the competing bid was evaluated.
Netflix then escalated the pressure by amending its offer into an all-cash deal, tightening the vise on Paramount’s challenge and pushing the studio battle deeper into legal and financial turmoil.
Amid all that corporate warfare, Kudrow’s comments land with a different kind of weight. Warner Bros. is not just another asset to her. It is the place where Friends ran for ten seasons from 1994 to 2004, filmed primarily on Stage 24, later christened “The Friends Stage.” It is where Kudrow worked alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer, helping define a generation of television.

Beyond Friends, Kudrow pointed to the studio’s deeper legacy. Warner Bros. has been home to films like Casablanca, Blade Runner, The Matrix, Inception, and The Goonies, a physical archive of Hollywood history that still functions as a working studio.
As billion-dollar bids fly back and forth, Kudrow’s message is pointedly human. Studios can change hands. Logos can change. But once a place like the Warner Bros. lot is altered beyond recognition, it is gone for good.
“So congratulations, whoever’s next,” she said. “Please don’t change a thing.”
