A late-night argument in northeast Houston ended in a shocking killing after a woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend multiple times in the head and face with a screwdriver, according to police and court records.
Jayla Brown, 22, is charged with one count of murder in the December 2025 death of her boyfriend, Keylan Foreman, 21. The incident unfolded shortly before midnight on Dec. 27 at the intersection of Lockwood Drive and Laura Koppe Road, police said.
Officers with the Houston Police Department responded around 11:55 p.m. to a report of a stabbing and found Foreman sitting in the backseat of a vehicle, unconscious and bleeding from multiple wounds to his face and nose. He was transported by the Houston Fire Department to a nearby hospital, where he died the following day.
Brown was identified as the owner of the vehicle and initially told officers, along with other witnesses, that Foreman had been injured during an altercation in a nearby parking lot. Days later, however, Brown went to the department’s Northeast Patrol Station and provided a written statement admitting she had stabbed Foreman with a screwdriver after the two argued, police said.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Brown told investigators the argument began while both were inside the car. She said she exited the vehicle, walked to the driver’s side, and told Foreman to get out, noting that he was on crutches from a previous injury. Brown claimed Foreman struck her in the face during the argument and that she reacted by hitting him with the screwdriver, later saying she “blacked out.”
Surveillance footage obtained from a nearby business appears to contradict that account, police said. Investigators allege the video shows Brown lunging at Foreman and repeatedly striking his head as he stumbles and falls. At no point in the footage does Foreman appear to hit or swing at Brown, according to police.

An autopsy conducted by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Foreman died from a traumatic brain bleed and skull fracture. The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide, finding the injuries consistent with Brown’s admission that she used a screwdriver. Investigators said the tool caused a clear injury path through Foreman’s nasal cavity that led to the fatal skull fracture.
Brown is currently being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday. The case remains under review as prosecutors prepare to move forward with the murder charge.
