Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have issued a public plea demanding proof of life after reports surfaced that ransom notes may be circulating in the disappearance of their mother, Nancy Guthrie.

In an emotional video posted to Instagram on Wednesday night, Savannah Guthrie addressed whoever may be holding her mother, acknowledging media reports about a possible ransom demand while stressing the family’s need for certainty. “We, too, have heard reports about a ransom letter in the media,” Guthrie said. “As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk.”

“But,” she added, “we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive and that you have her.”

Nancy Guthrie vanished from her Arizona home late Saturday night, and authorities believe she was abducted while sleeping. The case has drawn national attention as details remain scarce and investigators have not identified any suspects.

Multiple media outlets, including TMZ and Arizona station KGUN 9, have reported receiving ransom notes demanding millions of dollars in Bitcoin in exchange for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return. Law enforcement has not confirmed the authenticity of the notes but has not dismissed them either.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos gives updates on the search for Nancy Guthrie on Feb. 3, 2026.

Chris Nanos, the sheriff of Pima County, said Tuesday that his office is “aware” of reports about “possible ransom note(s)” and emphasized that investigators are taking all tips and leads seriously as the search continues.

The Guthrie family’s video marks the most direct public appeal yet in the case, underscoring both the fear and resolve surrounding the disappearance. By asking for proof of life, the family made clear that they are willing to engage—but only with assurance that their mother is still alive.
