Influencer Daphne Blunt says she and her family were the victims of a terrifying early-morning home invasion—an incident she believes was fueled by her highly visible social media presence.

In a TikTok video posted Monday, Feb. 2, Blunt told her hundreds of thousands of followers that two men allegedly broke into her home around 4 a.m. She said one intruder “charged upstairs” toward a room where her family members were sleeping, prompting a confrontation that forced the suspects to flee. According to Blunt, a family member invoked California’s Castle Doctrine, using force that scared the intruders out of the house.

Blunt said she was not in the room during the encounter but was awakened by her home alarm and the sounds of chaos. “I didn’t know if my parents were unalived,” she said, describing the fear and confusion as she waited in a designated safe area for police to arrive.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that officers responded to reports of a hot prowl burglary and gunshots fired around 4:40 a.m. in Blunt’s neighborhood last week. Blunt claimed that one of the intruders was injured during the incident and was later apprehended by police while seeking medical care.

According to Blunt, officers told her the break-in was “most likely” motivated by her social media activity. She has built a large following by posting shopping hauls, closet tours, and luxury lifestyle content featuring designer handbags and high-end jewelry. Blunt stressed, however, that much of what she shows online is not actually kept in her home.

“Social media is fake. Social media is not real,” she said in the video, explaining that her closet is now reinforced like a safe and that valuable items are no longer kept on the premises. She also noted that her home is equipped with alarms and security cameras and is located in what she described as a safe neighborhood.

Blunt said the timing of the burglary was especially unsettling, as home invasions typically occur during the day when residents are away. She claimed a neighbor witnessed the break-in and attempted to scare the suspects off, but that alarms, lights, and witnesses were not enough to deter them. “The only thing that deterred them was a life-threatening situation,” she said.

Despite calling the experience “traumatizing” and acknowledging past stalking, kidnapping, and robbery threats since becoming a public figure, Blunt said she has no intention of stopping her content. Referencing The Bling Ring in her caption, she framed the incident as a test rather than a warning.

“I’m not going to be silenced,” Blunt told followers. “Apparently I’m now putting my life at risk showing you what handbags I think you should buy. This is the society we’re living in—and it’s really scary.”

The investigation into the alleged home invasion remains ongoing.
