A disturbing scene unfolded outside a Scottsdale home this week after an Arizona mother was found suffering from multiple stab wounds and her adult daughter was discovered naked and kneeling over her, according to police records.
The incident occurred Monday, Feb. 2, after a nearby resident called 911 to report hearing “guttural” screams for help coming from a neighboring property. Officers with the Scottsdale Police Department arrived to find the injured woman lying on the ground near the garage and her 24-year-old daughter, Ashland Trinity Crank, kneeling over her, completely nude except for a head covering.
According to a probable cause statement obtained by PEOPLE and published by Law & Crime, Crank partially covered herself with a blanket as officers entered the area. The victim, whose name and age have not been released, had suffered multiple puncture and incised wounds consistent with sharp force trauma. She allegedly told officers at the scene that her daughter had stabbed her.
Inside the residence, police said they discovered blood throughout the home, including on the stairs and first floor. Investigators also recovered a knife with a broken blade that appeared to have blood and hair on it, according to the statement.
Crank allegedly told officers that her mother had stabbed herself, but police said her account shifted and contained inconsistencies. Investigators concluded that the physical evidence inside the home did not align with Crank’s explanation, leading them to take her into custody.
Crank has since been charged with second-degree attempted murder, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct involving a weapon, and kidnapping, according to the probable cause statement. The mother survived the attack, though police have not released details about her current condition.
Court records in Maricopa County list limited information about the case, and it remains unclear whether Crank has retained an attorney or when she is expected to make her first court appearance.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together what led to the violent confrontation.
