An Ohio woman who prosecutors say opened fire on a house party out of jealousy—wounding a random guest—has been convicted of attempted murder and multiple felony charges.

A Warren County jury last week found Olivia Clendenin guilty of attempted murder, two counts of felonious assault, and discharging a firearm into a residence, according to local NBC affiliate WLWT. The verdict stems from a chaotic early-morning shooting that unfolded after a New Year’s Eve party in January 2024.

Prosecutors said Clendenin became enraged after seeing her estranged husband and his new boyfriend spending time together at the house party. She was also at the gathering earlier in the night but left angry, authorities said.

Hours later, around 5 a.m., Clendenin returned—this time armed and driving her mother’s 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Investigators said she drove through the front yard of the home and fired multiple shots toward the house while still inside the vehicle.

“She drove through the front yard and fired shots toward the house,” a Clearcreek Township police sergeant told reporters at the time, according to the Dayton Daily News.

One of the bullets struck a 29-year-old man who was standing on the porch. Prosecutors said the man had no involvement in the dispute and was simply attending the party. He was shot in the abdomen and suffered serious injuries.

A grand jury report later stated that Clendenin “attempted to cause the death of another by shooting a firearm from a motor vehicle” and noted that she was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the attack, according to the Dayton Daily News.

After the shooting, Clendenin fled the scene but crashed the Jeep while navigating a curve, striking a guardrail and a utility pole. Police arrested her at the crash site. She pleaded not guilty and was later released on bond, placed on electronic home detention, and ordered to have no contact with witnesses.

A sentencing date has not yet been listed in online court records.
