A Southern California woman and an alleged accomplice from Alabama have been arrested in connection with a murder that shook a Murrieta apartment complex earlier this year, police said.
According to the Murrieta Police Department, officers were dispatched to The Arbors at California Oaks Apartments in the 24000 block of Jackson Avenue around 9:13 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13. Inside one of the units, officers discovered an adult male dead.
“Based on preliminary information, the circumstances surrounding the death were investigated as a homicide,” police said in a statement.
The victim was later identified as 30-year-old Aaron Parr, a resident of the apartment complex.
As detectives worked the case, investigators identified two suspects, including Parr’s ex-girlfriend, 40-year-old Ignacia Cadaos Perkins. Police confirmed that Perkins was arrested in Murrieta on Jan. 29.
On the same day, officers also took custody of a second suspect more than 1,800 miles away. James Lawrence Petri, 43, was located and arrested in Birmingham, Alabama, where police say he resides. Petri is now awaiting extradition to California.

Both Perkins and Petri have been charged with murder and criminal conspiracy to commit murder, authorities said. Police released a booking photo of Perkins on Monday but did not release an image of Petri.
Investigators have not disclosed how Parr was killed, what role each suspect allegedly played, or what may have motivated the killing. Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
