A woman was found dead inside her home in a western Chicago suburb after her husband called 911 and reported seeing disturbing footage on the couple’s home surveillance system.

According to a press release from the Oswego Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence in Oswego shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, police found the woman unresponsive inside the home. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Police said the husband contacted authorities after reviewing live surveillance video that appeared to show a man chasing his wife into the garage. The caller told dispatchers he believed the man was his wife’s ex-husband and feared she was in immediate danger.

“The caller reported that he believed his wife was in danger after observing, via home surveillance, a male subject run after his wife into their garage,” the department said in its statement.

Roughly 30 minutes after the woman was found dead, officers located a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident traveling on a nearby roadway. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Oswego Police Department, where he remains in custody. Authorities have not yet released the names of either the victim or the suspect.

An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted by the Kendall County Coroner’s Office to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Officials emphasized that the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. Police said information about the victim is being withheld at this time as the investigation continues.
