Actress Garcelle Beauvais was the target of a frightening swatting incident over the weekend after police received a false emergency call claiming a violent crime was unfolding at her home in the San Fernando Valley.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that officers responded to a 911 call on Jan. 25 at approximately 9:21 p.m. reporting a possible assault with a deadly weapon and shots fired. According to police, officers arrived and quickly determined there was no evidence of a shooting or any criminal activity.

“A report for ‘swatting’ was completed,” Officer Chaves told KTLA 5, confirming the call was fraudulent.

According to a report by L.A. Magazine, the caller falsely claimed to be Beauvais’ ex and told dispatchers he was armed with a shotgun outside the actress’s Porter Ranch home. The outlet reported that Beauvais was home alone at the time and was unaware of the situation as police responded.

The incident was described as deeply unsettling for the actress, who reportedly found the experience “extremely scary.” It also was not the first time Beauvais has been targeted in such a hoax. In a 2025 interview on Radio Andy’s Smith Sisters Live, Beauvais revealed that a similar swatting call had been made months earlier at her beach house.

Swatting is considered a dangerous criminal act because it intentionally provokes an armed law enforcement response under false pretenses. According to the Department of Homeland Security, swatting often involves fake reports of active shooters, bomb threats, or hostage situations, placing both victims and responding officers at risk.

The Department of Homeland Security notes that swatting can target private individuals, public figures, businesses, schools, and government facilities, and carries serious legal consequences for those responsible.

Police have not released any information about a suspect in the Beauvais incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
