Shockwaves are hitting the heartland as a legally blind Kansas biker finds himself at the center of a federal investigation, after allegedly posting menacing threats against Congresswoman Ilhan Omar on social media.

Notorious in Wichita circles as a rebellious ‘outlaw’ and avid supporter of former President Trump, Adam Lee Osborn, 60, didn’t hold back in his online tirades. ‘I’m going to kill Ilhan Omar!’ he blared in a Facebook rant on January 23, according to explosive court documents.

Police lights activated on an Evansville Police Department vehicle.

Police wasted no time and swooped in the next day for a grilling. Osborn reportedly spewed hate-filled language toward the Minnesota Democrat, even telling officers his rage stemmed from what he called Omar’s ‘disrespect for the U.S.’ and ‘using God’s name in vain.’ That wasn’t all—prosecutors say Osborn’s wrath extended to New York’s newly elected Mayor Mamdani, posting online that ‘someone needed to take his sorry ass out too.’

But it’s not just words. Just days before his fiery threats, Osborn uploaded a snap to Facebook, grinning as he flashed an assault-style rifle in one hand and a high-capacity magazine in the other. The scene drew cheers from fellow extremists. ‘Get right with God and get ready to rock-n-[expletive]-roll!’ one replied. Osborn’s comeback? ‘[O]h I’m geared up, brother!’

His feed was a toxic brew: multiple posts damning immigrants, pledging allegiance to Trump, and broadcasting a kill-or-be-killed worldview. ‘If illegals can come here unimpeded, I can kill them unimpeded,’ Osborn snarled in another post. In a chilling warning, he wrote to Omar directly: ‘you’re dead!’

Rep. Omar, a refugee from Somalia and a vocal progressive, has been a regular target for right-wing rage. The flames were stoked once again as Donald Trump, on the rally trail, spat invective, labeling Omar ‘garbage’ and urging crowds to ‘throw her the hell out.’ The consequences? Experts report a disturbing spike in anti-Muslim hate crimes—a trend echoed in recent studies by the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University, San Bernardino.

Seamus Hughes, a top researcher on domestic extremism at the University of Nebraska Omaha, warns that America is reaching a dangerous tipping point. ‘The casual way in which Americans talk about killing public officials is deeply troubling,’ Hughes told The Independent. ‘There are ways to express anger with your representatives, but violence and racist rhetoric have no place in our democracy.’

Now, as Osborn faces the full weight of federal charges, authorities and experts alike are left asking: How far is too far—and what can be done to halt the slide into violent political extremism?
