Authorities allege that McDaniel, 42, permitted her bedridden dad’s health to decline so drastically that three of his spinal bones were exposed through raw, festering pressure wounds. The sensational details emerged after medical workers rushed her father—who suffered a stroke nearly ten years ago—to hospital on January 2. Once there, doctors were horrified to discover his blood sugar levels soaring beyond 600, a danger zone that can tip into diabetic coma.
Investigators say the bed-bound man’s condition had tailspinned over the last half-year as McDaniel, his primary caregiver, stopped providing the necessary attention and medical care. Not only did she allegedly withhold vital diabetes medication, but she also failed to address his worsening bed sores, leaving open wounds that medical experts deemed severe.
