A horrifying scene unfolded in Orange County, Florida, late Monday night, when a session at a local therapist’s office turned deadly. Rebecca White, 44, a respected mental health expert, lost her life in a shocking knife attack carried out by Michael Smith, a former patient with a dark past.

Authorities say Smith, 39, barged into White’s office during an active therapy session, aggressively demanding to see her. Without warning, he unleashed a stabbing rampage, targeting White and another man in his 30s who was attending the appointment. While the second victim was rushed into surgery and remains in critical condition, White succumbed to her wounds at the hospital, leaving the community reeling.

Sources reveal Smith had a troubling history—previous arrests for offenses including kidnapping and a sex crime. Yet what exactly propelled his violent outburst on Monday is still a mystery, with investigators searching for answers.

After the grisly assault, Smith fled the scene. Hours later, police discovered him dead from an apparent suicide, but officials are staying tight-lipped about the means by which he took his own life.

Rebecca White’s legacy as a therapist stretches back to 2008. In 2022, she launched Down to Earth Therapy Solutions, having previously supported Florida’s Department of Children and Families as a behavioral health consultant and guided local families through rocky times. Her website showcased her philosophy, pledging to help clients rise above survival mode through thoughtful guidance and a nonjudgmental approach.

Now, her senseless death has left many questioning how such tragedy could strike inside what should have been a safe haven for healing. The investigation into the motive continues as colleagues and clients mourn the loss of a compassionate professional whose life was cut short in the very place she sought to heal others.
