Two girls who vanished from their home in the State of Mexico after allegedly being contacted by a man through the online game Roblox have been found alive, ending a tense weeklong search that stretched across multiple states.

Mary Beabey, 16, and Sabine Yohumi, 10, residents of Nezahualcóyotl, were located Saturday at the East Passenger Bus Terminal, known as TAPO, in Mexico City, according to a statement from municipal officials. The girls had been missing for roughly a week.

Investigators say the case began with online contact. A man allegedly communicated with the girls using Roblox’s chat feature, prompting them to leave their home. Security camera footage obtained by their parents showed the sisters walking away alone on Jan. 9, each carrying a suitcase.

Authorities initially followed leads to Campeche, but did not find the girls there. The breakthrough came after a family member provided new information. Police then located Beabey and Yohumi at the TAPO bus terminal, where they were believed to have arrived after traveling from Campeche.

“According to the information gathered, it is presumed that their absence was voluntary,” police said, while emphasizing that an investigation into the online contact continues.

Once found, the girls were placed in the care of specialized personnel. Photos released by local officials showed them surrounded by authorities inside and outside the terminal, one clutching a small bag and a toy doll, the other wearing a backpack.

The search involved police in Campeche, the Commission of Searching Persons of the State of Mexico, and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office. Mexican newspaper El Universal reported the girls are sisters and that missing persons reports remained active throughout their disappearance.
