D.C. is buzzing after Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin dropped a political bombshell: she claims she’s now the target of a federal probe—just for speaking out.

The Democratic senator revealed Wednesday that prosecutors want to quiz her regarding a short, fiery video where she and fellow Democrats warned military and intelligence personnel not to obey unlawful directives.

Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin, D-Lansing, speaks on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the UAW Local 652 headquarters in Lansing.

Slotkin, a seasoned former CIA agent who’s no stranger to high-stakes drama, says she was blindsided when she learned about the investigation through former Fox News staple Jeanine Pirro, now the U.S. attorney for D.C. According to Slotkin, Pirro’s office reached out last week, seeking an interview—all because of that 90-second call-to-conscience.

Outraged and defiant, Slotkin didn’t mince words in her own video statement: “This is straight out of President Trump’s playbook. Forget facts—if you disagree with him, you’re enemy number one, and he’ll sic the feds on you to keep you quiet. Well, I won’t back down,” Slotkin declared, slamming what she called a campaign of legal and physical intimidation. “This president does NOT speak for the majority of Americans. Our nation’s values are worth defending.”

Jeanine Pirro’s team stayed mum when pressed for answers. Meanwhile, cameras flashed as Pirro stood alongside FBI Director Kash Patel at a Washington presser Thursday.

Slotkin isn’t fighting this battle alone. Arizona’s Senator Mark Kelly—a Navy vet and former astronaut—landed in hot water as well for appearing in the same controversial video last November. This week, Kelly launched a lawsuit after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth tried to slap him with a demotion, accusing Kelly of making ‘seditious statements.’ Kelly fired back, calling the Pentagon’s threat ‘unconstitutional.’

Trump himself inflamed the showdown last fall, branding the lawmakers’ actions ‘seditious behavior,’ even suggesting such conduct was a capital offense—before softening his language but insisting they’re still ‘in serious trouble.’

Also featured in the video were Reps. Chris Deluzio and Chrissy Houlahan (both Pennsylvania), Maggie Goodlander (New Hampshire), and Jason Crow (Colorado). Word is, DOJ prosecutors have also reached out to Crow as the investigation snowballs.

Thanks to Trump’s inflammatory outbursts, Slotkin says the threats against her spiked, prompting Capitol Police to put her under round-the-clock security.

And as if Washington couldn’t get any wilder, NBC exclusively reported this week that Pirro—the same Trump loyalist now hounding Slotkin—has launched a criminal probe into Fed chief Jerome Powell, escalating Trump’s war on the Federal Reserve over interest rates. Powell claims the Feds are threatening him with indictment over testimony concerning the central bank’s renovations.
