Colleen Hoover, the literary sensation behind the blockbuster hit ‘It Ends With Us,’ stunned fans by revealing she’s been battling cancer.

The Texas-born author, 46, took to Instagram to post a candid hospital-gown selfie, announcing she’s nearly finished her course of radiotherapy. Always quick with a quip, Hoover joked in her caption that Texas Oncology shouldn’t be blamed for her wild hair or her unfiltered facial expressions, praising the team while also wishing her followers never need their services.

Followers were left reeling, with Hoover opting to keep specifics about her diagnosis under wraps. Eagle-eyed fans will remember she also pulled out of press junkets for the 2023 movie adaptation of her 2019 bestseller ‘Regretting You,’ citing an ‘unavoidable surgery’ months before revealing her cancer fight.

Hoover’s star power has soared, thanks in no small part to TikTok’s #BookTok crowd, who turned her novels into viral must-reads. She’s now racked up an eye-watering 50 million copies sold across the globe—over a fifth from ‘It Ends With Us’ alone.

This year saw ‘It Ends With Us’ crash into cinemas, with Blake Lively taking on the turbulent role of Lily Bloom, alongside Justin Baldoni—who not only starred but also directed. The film’s whopping $351 million global haul was overshadowed by scandal, as juicy headlines swirled about off-screen beef between Lively and Baldoni. Both unleashed lawsuits, hurling accusations of sexual harassment, misconduct, and defamation—all claims each fiercely denies.

Hoover, who flexed her executive producer muscles on set, later shared how the legal mudslinging left her “disappointed” and saddened by the “ugliness.”

Movie studios can’t get enough of Hoover’s page-turners. Last October, ‘Regretting You’ hit screens, with Alison Williams and McKenna Grace bringing to life the mother-daughter duo shattered by a sudden car crash. And 2024 will be no different, with adaptations of Hoover’s thrillers ‘Verity’ and ‘Reminders of Him’ set to land in theaters soon. One thing’s clear: cancer isn’t slowing this powerhouse author—or her Hollywood takeover—down anytime soon.
