Illinois Rep. Robin Kelly is shaking up Washington with her announcement that she’s moving to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

The bombshell came Thursday after a dramatic incident in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning, where an ICE agent fatally shot a woman, sending shockwaves through political circles. The victim, Renee Nicole Good, became the latest name in a string of violent encounters tied to controversial federal immigration crackdowns—especially the much-criticized ‘Operation Midway Blitz’ in Chicago, which saw ICE and Border Patrol agents involved in two shootings, one ending in death.

A neigbhor who saw what happened told local MPR news: “She was trying to turn around, and the ICE agent was in front of her car, and he pulled out a gun and put it right in — like, his midriff was on her bumper — and he reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times” / Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license

Kelly isn’t mincing words. In an emotional statement released Wednesday night, she declared, “I’ve had enough.” She blasted Noem’s leadership, claiming, “[Noem] has unleashed ICE as a lawless force, shredding constitutional rights, leaving chaos and broken families behind. The tragedies from Chicago to Minneapolis, especially Renee Nicole Good’s death, are a damning result of Noem’s reckless policies. This stops now—I’m holding her accountable.”

During a Thursday morning sitdown with CBS News Chicago, Kelly didn’t hold back, outright labeling the shooting of Renee Nicole Good as “murder” and vowing to take aggressive action immediately. “We have to take a stand—sitting idly by is not an option,” remarked Kelly.

She’s not pulling punches with her impeachment plan: Kelly intends to file three explosive articles against Noem. First, she charges Noem with intentionally blocking Congress from overseeing DHS and diverting money in violation of constitutional mandates. Second, Kelly alleges Noem stripped U.S. citizens of due process and green-lit unconstitutional activities. The third accusation? That Noem exploited her powerful post for personal gain, funneling federal funds toward her own allies.

Insiders reveal Kelly’s team has quietly been building this case for months. Now, following the Minneapolis shooting, they say it’s time to act—and they’re filing the impeachment documents Thursday, no matter what drama may follow.
