Kai Trump, the 18-year-old granddaughter of President Donald Trump, is offering a rare glimpse into life inside America’s most powerful family — and carefully sidestepping questions about her grandfather’s political future.

Appearing on the Impaulsive podcast hosted by influencer and Trump ally Logan Paul, Kai addressed speculation about whether the president might seek an unprecedented third term in office. While she said Trump has no plans to run again, she notably left the door ajar.

“A lot can happen until 2028,” she said, acknowledging the long runway before the next presidential election.

Publicly, Trump himself has conceded that a third term would be unlikely under the Constitution. But Kai’s comments reflect how even casual remarks from members of the Trump family can reignite political speculation.

Much of the conversation, however, focused less on electoral politics and more on how Trump’s return to the White House has reshaped Kai’s daily life. She told Paul that constant Secret Service protection has made ordinary teenage experiences — especially dating — deeply uncomfortable.

“To be honest with you, it’s really awkward when you’re sitting and going on a date with a guy and they’re two tables behind you,” she said, referring to her security detail. “It’s a little weird.”

Kai said she has learned to mentally tune it out, even as agents remain a constant presence. “I try my best not to let it bother me,” she explained. “Especially the past year, since he’s become president, I’ve had to learn that, yes, they’re following me, but also to focus on pretending that they’re not there.”

Unlike many members of the Trump orbit, Kai was careful to distance herself from partisan politics. Asked about former Vice President Kamala Harris — whom Trump defeated in the 2024 election — she stressed there was no personal animosity.

“I stay out of politics completely,” Kai said. “I would never run, and I don’t want anything to do with politics. I feel like politics is such a dangerous thing.”

She described herself as “very much in the middle,” criticizing both the “radical left” and “radical right” and arguing that polarization has been amplified by social media algorithms. In a pointed moment, she faulted platforms — some run by Trump allies — for trapping users in ideological silos.

“Social media kind of makes your feed be one way or the other,” she said. “There’s not a lot of things on social media if you’re very much in the middle.”

Kai, a competitive golfer and rising influencer, has built a substantial following of her own, with more than 1.4 million followers across platforms. Clips of her podcast appearance quickly drew hundreds of thousands of views, underscoring her growing visibility beyond politics.

Though she rarely speaks publicly about her views, Kai did take the stage at the Republican National Convention, where she portrayed her grandfather as “just a normal grandpa” months before his decisive return to office.
