What was meant to be a joyful Christmas Eve turned into pure distress for one San Antonio family—after 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos mysteriously disappeared without a trace, right outside her Bexar County residence.
The teen was last captured on security footage just before 7 a.m. on December 24, mere steps from her home, according to details from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Camila’s morning seemed routine. She was dressed in light blue pajama shorts, a black hoodie, and white sneakers, and was seen sifting through her car before the surveillance abruptly stopped. But, despite checking her vehicle, Camila left it parked in the driveway—walking off with only her keys and perhaps her driver’s license. Her cellphone, surprisingly, was left behind – switched off and abandoned on her bed.
Authorities say Camila vanished after rising from a shared bed with her mother, Rosario Olmos, who later described the frightening morning to KENS5. Rosario recounted how she remained in bed for 90 minutes after feeling Camila get up, only to discover her daughter’s phone left behind when she went to check on her.
“I dialed her number, but the phone was just sitting there, powered off. I plugged it in and began searching for her outside,” Rosario said. She hoped to spot her daughter walking the familiar neighborhood route, as she’d done plenty of times before. This time, though, Camila was nowhere in sight.
Worried and desperate, Rosario reached out to both Camila’s boyfriend and her father—neither had seen or heard from Camila. With hopes fading, the family contacted police and soon after filed a missing persons report. The search was escalated when officials issued a CLEAR Alert, warning that Camila could be in danger.
Camila’s loved ones and volunteers spent the holiday combing the surrounding area, but any sign of her was conspicuously absent. Relatives say it’s completely unlike Camila to leave without warning; Rosario emphasized, “She’s never vanished like this. I just pray God brings her back.”
Friends describe Camila as cautious, noting she’d habitually call someone during her walks and kept her phone charged at all times. “It’s totally uncharacteristic,” close friend Isabela told KSAT. “She always checks in on us, keeps her phone on—you never have to worry about her being out of touch.”

Now, a huge grassroots effort is underway, as hundreds of family members, friends, and neighbors have banded together to find Camila. Her father, Alfonso Mendoza, is overwhelmed by the ordeal: “It’s been so tough. Camila, please come home.”
As the days pass with no new leads, hope and heartache hang heavy over San Antonio. Anyone with information about Camila’s whereabouts is urged to contact authorities immediately.
