Kimberly Guilfoyle may be headed overseas on a diplomatic posting, but sources say she hasn’t exactly left the Trump family drama behind.

Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-fiancée is reportedly unconvinced that his newly announced engagement is the “real deal,” quietly questioning whether the relationship is built on love or the glow of the Trump name.

According to people close to Guilfoyle, the 56-year-old former Fox News host “only wants the best for Don,” but doesn’t believe socialite Bettina Anderson, 39, is the right match for the eldest Trump son.

Other speakers included, Donald Trump Jr., Greg Steube, Byron Donalds, U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, American TV personality, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Congressman Vern Buchanan, and more at the Sarasota Fairgrounds Saturday night, July 3, 2021.

“Kimberly has a hard time seeing the headlines about their relationship because she doesn’t believe it’s built to last,” a source told People. “She feels Bettina is more interested in the prestige and attention that comes with being connected to the Trump family and doesn’t think she’d be with Don if it weren’t for that.”

The timing hasn’t helped. Sources say Guilfoyle has only recently finished moving her belongings out of Trump Jr.’s home — long after the public narrative of a clean, amicable split.

“As recently as not that long ago, Kimberly and Don still hadn’t completely moved out of each other’s places,” the source said, adding that Trump Jr. still kept clothes and shoes at Guilfoyle’s home. The pair officially ended their six-year relationship in 2024, but insiders claim Trump Jr. had already been introducing Anderson as his girlfriend months before the breakup was finalized.

Those close to the situation say Trump Jr.’s motivations have always been layered.

“Don Jr. has always wanted to look good in his father’s eyes,” one source said. “Someone like Bettina — a model, in WASP-y Palm Beach circles — is something that would impress him.”

Anderson is the daughter of Harry Loy Anderson Jr., who became the youngest bank president in the country at just 26, adding pedigree to a relationship already wrapped in wealth and social capital.

Another insider said that Anderson initially struggled to fit into the Trump family ecosystem but eventually learned the rules. The advice, as described: look beautiful, stay quiet, and never outshine the family brand.

Trump himself announced the engagement during a White House Christmas party, where Trump Jr. publicly praised Anderson and thanked her for agreeing to marry him — a level of public affection that sources say Guilfoyle rarely received.

Behind closed doors, the former couple reportedly clashed over image and presentation. Trump Jr. was said to complain about Guilfoyle’s style, telling friends she dressed too “uptight” and professional.

“The tight dresses need to go,” a source claimed he said. “She’s been told that.”

Despite the personal fallout, Guilfoyle’s political fortunes have remained intact. After Trump’s 2024 election victory, the president nominated her to serve as U.S. ambassador to Greece, a post she was confirmed to a year later.

“They are trying to send Kim abroad,” one source said. “They didn’t want the split to get in the way of anything that could hurt Donald in the election.”

Even so, Guilfoyle’s past continues to hover awkwardly over Trumpworld. In their book The Hill to Die On, journalists Anna Palmer and Jake Sherman recount a moment during a 2024 fundraiser when Trump joked about Guilfoyle’s ex-husband — California Gov. Gavin Newsom, one of his most vocal rivals.

“Kimberley, you know him, right?” Trump quipped, according to the authors, drawing only uneasy laughter.

Now, as Trump Jr. plans his next chapter and Guilfoyle prepares for diplomatic life abroad, the split may be official — but the doubts, resentments, and whispered judgments remain very much alive.

In Trumpworld, even former fiancées don’t really exit the stage.
