Shockwaves are still rippling through Florida after 18-year-old Anna Kepner’s tragic death aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise liner—and now her aunt is stepping into the spotlight, casting fresh suspicion on Anna’s stepbrother, Timothy. Krystal Wright, sister to Anna’s mother Heather, revealed bombshell claims to the Daily Mail on December 13, alleging that Anna was deeply uneasy around 16-year-old Timothy, who a Florida judge has labeled as ‘a suspect’ in the headline-grabbing homicide probe.

Anna, an ambitious cheerleader with dreams of joining the K9 police force, set out on a six-day Caribbean adventure with her sprawling blended family: dad Christopher Kepner, stepmom Shauntel Hudson, younger brother Connor, and stepbrother Timothy, plus others. But that getaway turned deadly when staff found Anna’s lifeless body on November 7. By November 24, officials confirmed what everyone feared—it was murder.

Speaking candidly, Wright painted a portrait of a household fraught with tension long before the ill-fated vacation, claiming Anna felt increasingly unsafe at home. “Anna didn’t want to go on the trip,” Wright revealed, explaining her niece’s dread centered specifically around Timothy’s presence. “She was never relaxed with him. She was always worried.”

The family’s sleeping arrangements apparently tipped Anna further into discomfort, with Anna forced to share a cabin with both Connor and Timothy. Wright recounted, “When I found out she was bunking in the same room as Timothy, I just knew she’d be uneasy—not that she hadn’t dealt with it before, but she certainly didn’t like it. She tolerated, but never embraced it.”

Contrary to statements from stepmom Hudson—who insisted Anna, Connor, and Timothy were close-knit—Wright maintained the tension between Anna and Timothy had persisted for years. “She was sweet-natured, but she always had concerns about Timothy. That wariness never went away.”

After the floating vacation fatally ended and the Carnival Horizon docked on November 8, devastated relatives identified Anna as the passenger who had died in an exclusive interview with ABC News. The FBI swiftly launched an investigation, with Carnival Cruise Line confirming authorities were handling the high-profile case.

With the homicide probe ongoing, the mystery around Anna Kepner’s final days at sea—her anxieties, her family’s fractured relationships, and her suspicions about Timothy—continues to grip the nation.
