Tragedy struck Midtown Manhattan on Monday night when Wenne Alton Davis, beloved for her role in ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,’ was mowed down by a car and lost her life at 60. It all unfolded around 9 p.m. at the chaotic corner of West 53rd Street and Broadway. According to NYPD investigators, a sleek black 2023 Cadillac XT6 swung a left turn—colliding with Davis as she crossed the street.
Davis suffered catastrophic injuries to her head and body, cops revealed in their gripping statement. Paramedics scrambled to the scene, racing her to Mount Sinai West, but doctors could only declare her dead on arrival. The Cadillac’s driver stayed at the crash site, reportedly unharmed, while NYPD’s Highway District Collision Investigation Squad combed through the facts. No charges have been made, and detectives are keeping the case open.

Davis, who graced Amazon Prime’s smash hit ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ as a tough-talking cop in the final season, had a string of small-screen credits—spotted in ‘New Amsterdam,’ ‘Girls5eva,’ and even as a driver in the suspense flick ‘American Odyssey.’
Her reps broke the heartbreaking news to CBS News, painting the picture of Davis out on the town dining with pals before fate intervened as she headed for the E train home to Forest Hills, Queens.
Born Wendy Davis in Durham, North Carolina back in October 1965, she eventually rebranded as Wenne Alton Davis for her showbiz career. After relocating to New York in her late twenties, Davis took on stand-up comedy gigs before getting TV roles. Her agent Jamie Harris remembered her as a true New Yorker with an outsized passion for the city, the arts, time spent with coworkers at JFK, and above all—her family and an army of friends. Her final TV appearance aired in 2023, closing the chapter on a vibrant career.
