A Canadian mother is pulling out all the stops—using the international spotlight of the Alpine Ski World Cup—to reignite the search for her son, whose mysterious vanishing act still haunts Mont-Tremblant, Quebec. Kathleen Toman, desperate for answers about 22-year-old Liam Toman, made a bold appearance at the ski event, distributing wristbands and posters in a bid to uncover fresh clues.
Liam turned up missing on February 2, after leaving a local bar around 3 a.m. Surveillance footage caught his final moments headed toward his hotel, and then—nothing. Weeks later, as winter loosened its grip, his wallet surfaced on March 22 as the snow receded, yet the trail remained ice cold. Family states Liam isn’t classified as a runaway—his bank and social accounts have frozen since that night, adding to the mystery.

Toman seized the World Cup weekend as her moment to amplify efforts—upping the reward for information on Liam from $10,000 CAD (about $7,245 USD) to a staggering $50,000 CAD (around $36,000 USD), hoping bigger stakes might shake loose secrets. “No one simply disappears,” Kathleen told CTV News, convinced that someone holds vital information.
The original hunt for Liam was massive: a five-day dragnet involving 100 officers, search specialists, and divers scouring a 500-meter zone around the busy ski resort. Cars were stopped, flyers handed out—yet not a trace has turned up.
Durham Regional Crime Stoppers now features Liam’s profile: 5’11”, 132 lbs, light brown hair, blueish gray eyes, and last seen donning a black-and-green jacket, dark pants, and a green sweater. Snapshots from Liam’s final night show him chatting to a group near the hotel, but their identities—like his whereabouts—remain unknown.
On July 23, the day Liam would have celebrated his 23rd birthday, his family poured out their emotions in an online tribute: “It’s been over five months, Liam—endless days of worry, hope, prayer, and memories. You’re more than the silence, more than the missing.” Their message, brimming with longing and love, pledges never to stop searching.
The hunt is ongoing. The Toman family’s website now notes the possibility of foul play swirling around Liam’s mystery. At the same time, a local has started a petition, rallying for enhanced safety at Mont-Tremblant after Liam’s vanishing. The family continues to urge anyone with information—no matter how small—to come forward and help bring Liam home.
