A Tennessee mother faces child abuse and neglect charges after authorities say her two young children were hospitalized from consuming her THCA gummies. The incident unfolded on Nov. 28, when Gibson County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a call from a woman reporting that her children, ages 2 and 4, had eaten an unknown amount of her edibles.
According to an affidavit obtained by WBBJ-TV, Candice Hickson told deputies that the children got into her THCA product when she stepped into the bathroom. By the time authorities arrived at the home on Trenton Highway, both children were unresponsive.

Deputies immediately arranged for medical transport. The children were taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, where they were treated and released within 48 hours, according to WBBJ-TV and a statement from the Tennessee District Attorney General Frederick H. Agee.
Hickson, 43, was arrested two days later and booked into the Gibson County jail, WBBJ-TV reported. County records show she now faces charges of child abuse, neglect, and endangerment. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 16.
The situation escalated further after Hickson reportedly failed a drug test for methamphetamine. Both children were placed into the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.
In a press statement, Agee said his office intends to prosecute the case fully while also acknowledging the role of addiction treatment. He noted that the goal is to help Hickson access support so that she may eventually reunite with her children “in a safe environment.”
The case adds to a growing number of incidents nationwide involving young children who gain access to THC-infused products, which often resemble candy and can be dangerously potent for small bodies.
